The Supreme Court on Monday suspended the decision of Sindh High Court (SHC) by restoring the admission of seven students of NED University. A two-member bench of the SC headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed and comprised Justice Sajjad Ali Shah suspended the order of SHC after the students filed an appeal in the apex court against the decision.

The NED University cancelled the admission of seven students on the basis of their bad performance during the examination. University's administration took the plea that these students performed poorly in the first and second semesters.

University contended that the admissions were cancelled on the basis of prescribed rules and regulations. These students were admitted to the university during the batch of 2016.

The SHC gave the verdict in favour of university administration by keeping the admissions of the students suspended, who filed an appeal in the SC against high court decision. At Karachi Registry of the SC, two members bench suspended the verdict of High Court and restored the admissions of seven students. The apex court also issued notices to the both parties to submit their replies in this regard.
